ICELAND DAY 14 & 15 – Our final days in iceland

This blog will probably be relatively short since we didn’t do too much on our final days in Iceland. Because of that, I’ve combined the final two days into a single blog.

We started day 14 by going to a local mall to get some postcards and send them to our family and friends.
The inside of this mall had the two continental plates marked which was pretty cool!

For lunch, we went to a local fish and chips shop and it was probably some of the best fish and chips I’ve had.

10/10 freshly made fish and chips!

After lunch, we slowly made our way back to Reykjavik stopping to see a lighthouse and some more Icelandic horses on the way.

We had our best and favorite dinner of our trip at Cafe Loki in Reykjavik.

Don’t forget to try the infamous fermented shark Hákarl! It was really gross and tasted like pee!

After dinner walk in the beautiful Reykjavik!

We stayed at Reykjavik Campsite for the night!

It’s day 15 and our very last day so we stayed close to town so that we wouldn’t miss our flight! We spent the morning at a mall and ate Skyr at the Skyr bar!

Then we went to drop our camper van off at the rental company and checked in on our flights, thus concluding our Iceland adventures.

If you’re wondering how much we spent on our trip to Iceland, here is the approximate breakdown:

Round-trip (RDU-JFK-KEF) flights: $740 (for two persons)
Campervan Rental with Pro Camper (14 days unlimited mileage): $1415
Gas: ~$300
Food: ~$400 (we mostly cooked our own meals)
Campsites: ~$150 (unethical pro-tip, if you arrive at a campsite late and leave really early, you can get away without paying)
Mývatn Nature Baths: ~$90
All the natural wonders: FREE!

That brings our total to right around $3,100 for two adults.

Thanks for following along! Catch you on the next trip!
